To Add a Note to an Approval

The VMware Service Portal enables you to add notes to approvals that are opened. You can access this function via the following options:

Select Add Note to Your Approval from the VMware Service Portal Navigation Bar.

- OR -

From your Home Page, select the approval within the Approvals Awaiting Your Action summary and click to select the approval. On the Approval Details page, click the Add Note button.

- OR -

Search for an approval via the Review Past/ Current Approvals menu option and from the Approvals Summary page, click the button.

- OR -

Search for an approval via the Review Past/Current Incidents menu option and click to select the approval. On the Approval details page, click the Add Note button.

Selecting  or the Add Note button from any of the above pages will display the Add a Note to Your Approval page.

To add a note to your approval, follow these steps:

  1. On the Add Note to Your Approval page, if not provided, type the approval number in the Approval No field.

This is the reference or unique identifier for the approval. The approval no field is mandatory and is validated. You can only add a note to an approval if the approval no is valid.

  1. Type the note you want to add to your approval in the Description field.
  2. If configured, you can select the Send Email or Send Pager option for the approval.

Send Email will send an email message to and Send Pager will transmit a paging notification to the officer to whom the approval is assigned.

  1. Click OK. An acknowledgement is displayed. This confirms that the note has been attached to the approval.

Notes are a useful function to add more information to the approval. Notes can only be added to open approvals.
